The Horrible Mistake That is Blogger Beta

It's finally happened folks blogger beta is now officially over. Or is it? After the ride my blog has been put through because of this horrible test now they are claiming it's done? When my feed, my template, and my post editor doesn't break for paragraphs?

Note this is my experience with my other blog all about google adsense.

It's nothing short of horrible if you ask me before you switch into the new blogger please read this post, I'll tell you all about the nightmare that is the "new blogger". The first thing I noticed when I switched to the then "blogger beta" was the fact that my feed stopped functioning for no apparent reason at all. I checked the help section and found nothing there again. But I contacted blogger and I never got a reply not even once. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt after all they must have been swamped with these kinds of requests when the blogger beta came out. So I waited about a month and tried again, again with no response whatsoever.

Finally I decided to take it to the google group of blogger and there no one could help they all just babbled on about how to check if my feed was enabled. Which, yes, an idiot with half a brain would know. So no no luck there at all. And I contacted blogger again for the second time still nothing though. And this went on ever since the blogger beta except things just got worse and worser.

First thing I noticed is the fact that none of my previous posts had any formatting any longer. Check out one of my previous posts. I looked once again all over the blogger help with nothing at all to suggest what my problem was and again the contact form to blogger with no results. At this point I was getting irritated by the fact that no one seemed to care about my blog. Then I decided to just start a new one via blogger and just transfer all my posts.

That was horrible mistake number two because I changed my mind and decided to delete that blog only to discover that it wouldn't delete. It would delete n my blogger panel but it was still very much there when you typed in the address.

Next I tried to customize my templates to my liking only to discover that I had to refresh my browser every time I edit a section because the edit button just disappeared, I am not the only one with that issue as I found out later.

With the release of blogger out of beta I got excited and I checked my feed only to be surprised with the same old error. In fact NOTHING appears to have been fixed with this launch I will continue to contact blogger though I've since given up and started using wordpress because this whole thing was a nightmare for my blog as well as my faithful visitors. this hasn't deterred me though I've created an outside feed that I update myself through feedburner and I have to format ever paragraph by itself.

I need help in getting blogger's attention on these problems please I ask all my readers including you in a desperate plea to get blogger's attention by doing whatever you can. Anything can help either a comment here or a contact to blogger (maybe they'll listen to you). It will be much appreciated since I love blogger and I really what to get this straightened out. Thank you

Google Adsense Bans Images Next To Ads

The google adsense blog just announced that images next to google adsense ads are not acceptable any longer!

They've received many emails from webmasters asking them if it's okay since it appears to increase CTR numbers by a long shot and decided to release a post about it. I had found this out earlier this month and taken down the ads on some of my sites because the google adsense team had contacted me about that.

Rumors were circulating the web that images with a visible border to the google adsense ads are acceptable but according to google these aren't either. They even released copies of what ads they consider breaking the rules:

google adsense blog

google adsense blog

This is a big downer to anyone in the Google adsense program that was getting massive earnings because of this seemingly little change.

Folks this was coming though advertisers probably complained about this since it wans in a sense "tricking" the user into noticing the users.

What do you think is this going to put a damper in your earnings?

New Google Adsense Payment History Page

Google adsense just released a new look and even more features for google adsense. I've always complained about how complicated the payment method for google adsense is but with this new page more details appears to be the key:

First we have a yellow section that takes you to the payment center of the google adsense help section. There you can find a whole list of the process as well as the time line of the google adsense payment process.

Next the earned and payment money has been divided into two columns allowing for a user to concentrate on each better. Another section provides your monthly account balance. Whe you click details more information about what happened on that month will be given. For example your payments were sent an don.

Last we have the payment schedule which includes an exclusive look at the timeline for th google adsense payments to be delivered. If you didn't know:

Complete with color coordinations for each change in the process.

My Review:

I am thinking this is a positive step from the folks over at google adsense, next they should try simplifying this whole formula so that new users can get used. I know it took me a long time to get used to these payment method of google adsense. What do you think will this make it easier or they need to step it down a notch at least one of those steps?

Thank You

Google Image Logo On Google Adsense

It seems google adsense is trying out new ad formats no tin the sense you are thinking of though. More in the sense of removing the ads by google label with something a little easier. Relbenezon reported that google was using the image logo on it's ads instead of the normal ads by google. Check out the image below:

I don't know if this is supposed to increase CTR by catching a user's eye. But it doesn't look like it to me. If anything it screws up anything you might have going in the sense of blending you as. Not to mention the extra added bandwidth to load that image along with google's javascript. Let's just hope this isn't here to stay.

Introducing SEO News Blog

Remember a while ago I said that I was going to move this blog to it's own domain? Well plans were changed and I decided instead to create a new blog sorely based on SEO it's called SEO News Blog and it will be officially launched in a week or two.

SEO news blog will focus on all aspects of the SEO industry and leave this blog to focus sorely on google adsense as it should be in the first place. So yes this is a major change and I'd like to let all my regular visitors know that I am sorry about this. But this whole thing has been bum rushed as I don't have much in terms of time this Christmas season. And I wanted the launch to go with the new Christmas season. So please bear with me as all these changes take place.

Thank You

What To Expect from Washington Post Blogroll?

The news is out well for me anyways. The washington post a prominent newspaper has decide to enter the world of online advertising. It's official called "Blogroll" according to their blog and is sure guaranteed to create a lot of buzz in the blogosphere.

If you want to skip right to the application be my guest, but if you want to learn more about it keep reading:

First things first this program is only for blogs so sorry everyone else but it is called blogroll. It a couple of features as of now:

Space Saver

This feature will assure that you don't miss out by only displaying ads that are going to make you more money than the you already had. Basically you tell them how much you earn with your normal ad company and they only show ads when they have some that will pay higher than what you earn. This is an interesting feature that if you ask me will create a lot of problems with code.

You Choose Your Advertisers

Just like many new blog programs out there you can choose which ads will display on your website. The advertisers will offer you a price and you'll choose whether to accept them or not, this way only the ads you choose will be shown.

Landing Page

You get your own "store" as they call it. So that you can direct advertisers to a page where they can buy ads for your website. Just like text link ads, except you can customize this page.

Overall I think this program is really nothing special, of course I've applied so that I can provide you guys with more info, but all this programs offers seems to have been outdid by google or many other advertising agencies out there.

Exclussive! Sneak Adsense Keywods For Higher Earnings Ever!

Here is another exclusive tip for all you adsense freaks from all about google adsense. This is a nice little trick where you sneak high paying google adsense keywords into your otherwise nothing earning website for higher profit. This is especially nice for blogs because you can do this in every post and watch you google adsense earnings climb to the top. For high paying keywords I use the google adwords keywords lookup tool. Here is an example:

I have exciting news to tell you guys and no it's not about mesothelioma lawyers, instead it's about how google adsense can earn you millions. Really my friend who is a consolidate loan student has a nice website about finding tax lawyers and he makes so much money that I don't think even a personal injury lawyer makes that much. So anyways that's what I wanted to tell you guys and don't even ask me what is mesothelioma because that's whatmalignant mesothelioma is there for.

Notice that i overdid it just to show my point. But really try sneaking at least one or two every post and you'll see your adsense earnings rise slowly. If you don't believe me check out the ads on top of this post. Thank You

Amazing Google's Secret Turbo Dancing!

If you have any kind of standing as SEO you should know by now that google is turbo dancing all over the place. Authority websites that once dominated keywords are being pushed to nothingness, everything is slowly changing.

I first noticed this when I checked the results of google on this blog you see I could never get the top position in the google SERPs for "all about google adsense" but recently out of nowhere after pushing a LOT of google sites it got to the top! Check out all about google adsense if you don't believe me. But that's not all this evening I checked put my google analytics SERPs and guess what of keywords I rank for? "social bookmark adsense" "google+ads+history" and this one really surprised me "google adsense tricks".

Somehow in all this chaos this blog has managed to come out on top in a lot of things. And even though I was planning on moving it to it's domain soon I am gonna hold out for a while to see what happens. heck who knows I might finally be becoming an authority website.

But some websites are getting the short end of the stick from google users from digitalpoint and webmastertalk are crying foul.

In all most people really don't know what's going on. Is google coming out with new features as it claims on the official google blog? Or has google finally came out with another "google slap" like the one it did a couple of years ago creating the google "sandbox"?

Thank You

Find Out If Your Website Is Perfect!!!

Rackspace took a survey of Internet users to find out what they like most about a website and the results were made into a tool that calculates how perfect your website is according to their research:

83% of respondents reported ease of navigation as being the most important factor in their 'ideal' website, with 62% rating high speed and 49% rating functionality as the other key factors 80% of people surveyed rated a clean and simple overall design as their most desirable design factor with only 6% wanting innovative use of flash and multimedia options Running a faster (61%) and easier to navigate (52%) website were the two most popular improvements people would make to internet sites today. In order to understand the formula, Rackspace has given the following explanation:
Pwebsite = the degree of perfection of the website
EaseNav = ease of navigation
Speed = the speed at which pages load
CleanDes = clean and simple design
Func = functionality -' does what it says on the tin'
Up = the site is always alive
Pops = the site tries to give you pop-ups
Ads = excessive advertising
MultiM = Flash and other multimedia

62% of the users rated high speed as the most import factor of a website. And surprisingly only 25% rated speed and uptime as their most important factors. Funny huh? Anyways the rate your website tool gave this site a solid 95%. I guess to get 100% I gotta remove all ads....not happening, I gotta make a living. Thank You

Top Ten SEO Obvious Deadly Sins

SEO is a trade with two sides: one the easy one are obvious mistakes you shouldn't make, these are the deadliest, and another which is the most complicated one that will give you that extra edge is SERPs. The easy ones can be summarized in ten easy and again obvious lists. But no matter how easy every now and then I see a website that terribly violates one of these or perhaps even more. Dooming it to the very end of SERPs. So for the record for everyone out there here they are:

1. Do NOT include your url in your website's title.
I know it may seem cool to let everyone know which website they are on but I think we all know where they have to look in order to know where they are. And to be honest if they can't figure it out heck just leave them lost in the vast world of the Internet. Seriously though this will bring your SERPs even lower since the url of your website will barely be found in your content. Links don't count.

2. Your tile should, at maximum, be 65 characters long.
Keep it short I don't think you have that many related keywords on one page. And remember to cut out ordinary words that you can never even hope to rank for like "it".

3. Do NOT repeat keywords in your description.
You may no think google cares about your description but it does and repeated keywords will get you stupid penalties for no reason. And try to keep it at maximum 200 characters.

4. Again Do NOT repeat keywords in your keywords META tag.
This is just like asking for your website to disappear people.

5. Do NOT join those tacky link exchange sites.
Sure they promise you links, but those links are put on a page with NOTHING but links. So there is no use to you. Instead it'll give you a temporary boost until google figures it out and BAM! next thing you know your website is know out.

6. Keyword stuffing is just plain stupid.
You may be tempted to put nothing but your keywords on a page but if you do tell how it turns ou tin a year or two. I don't think I need to warn any smart guys out there.

7. Stay away from BLACK HATS.
We all have heard of the amazing techniques to get your site on top of the SERPs, but what they don't tell you is how long you are going to keep that top spot. igive i ttwo to three months and you site is BANNED from google. I don't care what anyone says any underhanded trick in my book is crap.

8. Use flash and images SPARINGLY.
The key word there is sparingly. Some people seem to think it's a pretty cool idea to have their whole website as flash. Sure new movies and big starts can get away with that. But an independent website will be just digging it's own grave.

9. Navigation is also for the Search Engines.
So keep them html or php or anything they can see also. I can't tell you how many sites use javascript and flash as their navigation putting a big block on the googlebot.

10. Beyond SEO
The last mistake is optimizing your website for every search engine out there except, oh, that's right the user. After all your work getting visitors from SERPs and when they get there they immediately leave. Because you've forgotten that the whole point of SEO is the user.

It doesn't matter what others think these are the things you need to take care of first. Keep these things in mind and THEN move on to advance techniques. Which I happen to plan on covering extensively in the future.

Proof That Google Still Uses META Desciption Tag

IF you've ever needed proof that google sometimes DOES use meta tag descriptions to describe a SERP check out my entry in the precharge projectnet seo contest. View source and check the META description and you'll see that it matches this SERP:

And this isn't a fluke it's been like this since yesterday and even now search "precharge projectnet" and look at the third entry and you'll see it for yourself.

Google Shares GOOG Passes $500 Dollar Mark

Google's shares in stocks has passed the $500 dollar mark as if it was nothing. In just 24 months since August 2004 when google went public it has managed to grow by 490%. I previously covered how GOOG stocks was going to be the new phenomenon back a while in this GOOG stocks explained post.

Many avant stock brokers knew where it was headed. Now one of the prominent leaders in the Internet advertising field, Google is actually thinking about broadening it's advertising base to the real World. Much like one of it's main competitors Yahoo. Looking in newspapers, print and even TV ads, google is guaranteed to keep climbing.

The $500 dollar milestone was achieved early on Tuesday growing up $9.14 to reach $504.19.

New Sitemaps Standards!

That's right! Google, MSN, and Yahoo finally joined forces and agreed on a new standards for sitemaps. This came in the form of a very informative website located at sitemaps.org. Just in case you don't know what sitemaps are:

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

It has a protocol page with everything from tools to validate your sitemap according to the new standards, informing the search engines when you update your sitemap, and even XML tag definitions for beginners.

The only thing that seems to have been left out is where blogs will stand when these new standards become rules of the Internet. Obviously blogs like wordpress shouldn't have nay problems but what about blogs like blogger, Google's very own blogs? Well only time will tell. For now I am going to start the new task of bringing all my websites under these new standards.

Deleting A String From Firefox's about:config

I got frustrated the other day searching for a way to delete a string from the firefox about:config page. I messed it up trying to do some firefox speed up trick; lesson learned never mess with my sweet firefox. So after looking around and not being able to find a proper guide I had to deal with it myself which took an hour or two. So just to save my users a big headache like I got here's a nice little guide to deleting a string in Firefox's about:config. Basically I found out you can't just do it from firefox itself you have to go into the actual user file:

1. Close firefox (so not to mess it up even more).
2. Go into your profile page "%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\" the x's stand for a randomly generated code for every profile.
3. Open the file "prefs.js" in a text editor.
4. And just use the find tool and enter the title of the string. (not the whole title just a part if you want) and just erase that part.

Well there you go no more headaches when the time comes for you guys.

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 5 of 15: Google Adsense Ad Location

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 5 of 15 deals with where to position google adsense ads. Your google adsense ad unit positions are one of the most deciding factor on whether a user will click your google adsense ads or just plain ignore them. The home of your google adsense ads is worth days and weeks of tweaking to get exactly where they will earn you the most money. This is where you should ask yourself these five questions:

1. What kind of content do I have on my website?

2. What does my users do when they are visiting my website?

3. What places can I expect my users to focus their attention on?

4. How do I make my ads useful and not intrusive?

5. How do I keep my website looking as good as it was without the google adsense ads?

Using google adsense tools

Google adsense realizes that placement of your google adsense ads is a very important factor of your potential earnings. So they naturally have come up with great tools to help out. The first google adsense tool you need to check out is your google adsense channels. They will tell you how each of your google adsense ads are doing individually so you know which position is pulling you the most adgold. Next up is the google adsense custom reports; designed to give you daily or weekly even monthly stats of each and every one of your google adsense ad units. This way everything is delivered to your email with important information. Another useful thing about google adsense custom reports is the fact that you can compare them and see how your ads have been doing over time. Which is important because your user base may change making your previously carefully selected google adsense ad positions, useless against these new users. And of course the google adsense ad formats with them you can customize exactly how long or big your google adsense ads should. This is good since some high paying positions may be too small or too big for certain ad formats, for example your navigation. And last but least the google adsense color palettes knowing which colors compliment or blend in with your content will increase your earnings exponentially. Now all these tools can help you find the perfect position if used carefully and considering many outside factors. For example the fact that no matter how great a position, people are different it may attract some users and annoy others, just keep in mind the majority.

Google adsense heatmaps

Google adsense has released a lot of heatmaps over the years in an attempt to try pinpoint where exactly is the best positions for your google adsense ads. Even though each website is different there are certain areas that are just common sense that are sometimes guaranteed to work. The hotter the colors the better the google adsense position so red is good while white is the worse. There three main kinds: general, blogs, and forums:

General

all about google adsense The general heatmap indicates that the best google adsense position is on the top of your main content.

Forum

all about google adsense

The forum heat map shows that the best placement in forums is in the navigational aid where most of your users will often look. But forums users are tricky because most of them skip the header and jump right to the thread. And putting ads right in the middle of a discussion is downright annoying and intrusive; this may prompt the user to ignore the google adsense ads. So instead put one instead at the bottom of the last post in a thread that way this offers the user more choices when the discussion is finished. Keep in mind however that most of your traffic will be returning daily so either intelligently blend your google adsense ads or use image ads to keep thing fresh.

Blog

all about google adsense

The blog heat map illustrates that underneath your posts is where you should put your google adsense ads. Blogs are notoriously hard to accommodate google adsense ads for since they contain so much content to draw the user's attention. So first things first give your google adsense ads a blog title to make them stand out a bit but be sure to blend the rest of the ad unit to your content. But blogs more than make up their difficulty by offering a great way to diversify your google adsense ads. You can use the google search for example as your default search engine. You can also use refer ads when lining to google adsense. Not to mention that since blogs have a lot of content they are perfect for google adsense section targeting this way you can point to where exactly google adsense will look for content on your google adsense ads. Remember nothing is set in stone these are just merely suggestions really.

Keep Them Close To Home

Google adsense ads tend to perform better when they are directly in your main content or under it. When it's say on the side of the content like in an article a user sees them as they are reading the content. Under the content it serves the user when they are done reading after they are done, they want to find out more about the subject and google adsense ads will present an easy way for you to gain money from them exiting your website. It doesn't matter anyway since 90% of users when they are done with the main content move on to other websites so why not earn money from them leaving?

Guide Them

A good starting position to test which google adsense position earns you the money is the navigational menu. You know and I know that the first a user does after arriving at a website is check the menu to see what else you have on your website. So right there and then is when you can grab them, so even though they don't find anything useful in your navigational menu they earn you some gold right there. Any skyscraper will do for this.

It Takes Time

Google adsense ad unit positioning takes a lot of patience and time along with it. So don't let all the frustrations that go along with it stop it's a great way to increase your google adsense gold, if and when you do it the right way.

Big Plans For All About Google Adsense

I am excited to finally announce to you guys the big plans I have for all about google adsense for a while now I've been planning on moving this whole blog to my own domain. Thanks to blogger beta messing up my rss feed and a lot of other background stuff I've also decide to move it to wordpress. Which I am more familiar with now.

Don't worry all the content will also be moved along with the blog. The sad news part is the fact that I won't be able to offer my pr 4 links like I usually do due in largely to the fact that I won't have the pagerank 4 on the new address.

I'd like to ask what you guys have to say about it so drop me a comment if you have an opinion as to where you want this blog to go. After all this is all for you and I wanted to get a little feedback before I moved everything.

You may have noticed the posts have been a little slow and that's because I wanted to make sure everything was perfect for the big move.

Your support is appreciated.

Thank You

What is Precharge Projectnet?

What is precharge projectnet? Yes there is the obvious that it's another one of those seo contests out there. But to some it's more; to the Internet it's life itself. For you see the goal of the precharge projectnet seo contest is to draw awareness to the new Internet crisis in which congress is planning on giving individual ISP (Internet Service Provider) companies control over what parts of the Internet their users can access. Meaning in a sense they'll be able to control and monitor what you do on the world wide web. And not to mention restrict access to pages THEY don't think you should view.

Sounds familiar? It should China has a system in place to make sure it's users can't access any websites that might condemn their government. But to us it's even worse, think about in terms of web competition. It's no secret that the triangle of power exists on the world wide web. Google, Microsoft, and yahoo all fighting to control traffic on the web. So imagine google going up to your ISP and paying them a certain amount of money to make sure their users, including you, will never see a Microsoft oriented website again. Of course you can switch but maybe your new ISP has been paid to not show anything relating to google or google itself. Imagine a world with no Amazon shopping or small Internet businesses. So where are you now? Stuck because the Internet is not yours anymore.

This is the problem the precharge projectnet seo contest wants to draw attention to, more awareness will create a better informed public in turn apply pressure to your representatives in congress to vote no and leave the Internet as is. That is why I am so proud to be participating in this precharge projectnet contest, because I know this will help the Internet for which many people so depend on. My entry to the precharge projectnet is located at: http://www.seocontestentry.com/ and I urge you to link to it as well as this article if you'd like to promote and raise awareness to this upcoming Internet congress vote.

But to tell you the truth I don't care about the contest that much what bothers me is the fact that if this law passes many people are going to be left in the darkness. The Internet is a great superhighway of information that has managed to reach great potentials in such a small amount of time it would be a great waste if this was thrown away by Congress. You may not agree with me on this but there is one thing to be sure of, we are all responsible if and when this law passes. Remember not doing anything to help is the same as saying you agree to what's going to happen.

Now I want you take hope in knowing that there are more caring users trying to fight this new proposed law. Information and how to contact your representative in congress can be found at precharge projectnet.

Thank You

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 4 of 15: Google Adsense Color Palettes

all about google adsense How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 4 of 15 is all about google adsense color palettes. Google Adsense color palettes are like clothes for your ads. And just like fashion models no one will give them a second glance if you don't dress them up to catch eyes. But keep in mind that we are here not to trick the user into clicking your google adsense ads but drawing attention to them and letting them be the judges. As always keep in mind the one to bring you all these articles and more all about google adsense and precharge projectnet.

Getting Down To Business

Google Adsense has a lot of choices when it comes down to color palettes and this makes sense after all they want your google ads to look like they are going to prom everyday. First things to consider are what kind of colors your page has and where the google adsense ads will be located. Second what kind of technique you are going to use to maximize your earnings, currently there are three major color palettes techniques: blend, compliment, or contrast. Third does your website have a lot of static traffic or is it pretty much random. Fourth the fact of all the things you have on your website competing for the user's attention.

Blending In Your Ads

all about google adsense

Blending your google adsense ads using color palettes is a major favorite among the google adsense community. Few opt out to the other two methods though they can be as effective as blending depending on what kind of website you are working on. Blending includes making your google adsense ad units the same background as your web page and using the same link color on your google adsense ads as your links on your web page. This is easy since most websites have a white background with blue links the Open Air palette built in with google adsense can be used. Making your text link description the same color as you ads is also highly recommended.

Compliment Google Adsense

all about google adsense

I don't mean complimenting your google adsense quite literally of course but in method. Using your color palettes to make your google adsense ads look like they belong to your website. This is way different from blending as blending makes them disappear, complimenting makes them obvious but part of your overall website design. Check out the example in the image above. The background color should be your secondary color on the website the most reoccurring color next to your background. But the text should be the same as your website. Giving your google AdSense ads a "homely" look.

Contrast Or Reject Your Google Adsense Ads

all about google adsense

Contrasting your google adsense color palette to your website is a lesser liked method of using google adsense but may be effective as well. You ever see those advertisements on television that just shocks you, that have nothing to do with the product being advertised yet they catch your attention? Well it shocked your took you from the ordinary to something a little out of this world. Contrasting your google adsense ads is sort of the same thing. The goal is to make your google adsense ads as different as possible from your website. I am talking about opposites here. There are obvious colors that contrast each other like black on white, red on blue, or even gray on green. This one is very easy to do since all you have to do is do a crazy color design.

Multiple Google Adsense Color Palettes at the Same Time

No doubt your google adsense needs are different and if you don't want to use google adsense channels to spend hours or even days trying to figure which color palettes work est with your website or even if you did test and let's say two methods both got you equal earnings. Well you can use this new technique from google adsense that allows to use up to four color palettes on one ad unit. Simply go to your google adsense account and under color palettes choose the multiple palettes option and hold down the control or command key to choose multiple palettes.

Proven Colors

Well I can't leave you out to dry without first giving you a couple of suggestion to get you started. First of all google adsense is not the first to start with different color coordination to get catch people's attention. The advertising industry has been at it for a long time. And after a lot of research the colors that seemed to catch user's attention the most were black on red or yellow. For some weird reason we seem to notice those colors the most. Some say this is because at night time is when we must pay most close attention since the limited visibly and red or yellow come from an indication of something dangerous so we seem to pay more attention to them. If your don't believe me ask yourself why traffic signals are the same colors everywhere and why yellow and red means to stop? Not to mention the lights on your car or the colors companies like Winn-Dixie use.

Unique

In all of this keep in mind that no two websites are alike even with the same content the users are always different. So keep on trying different methods until your get it just right.

Thank You

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 3 of 15: Google Adsense Ad Formats

How to Dig Google Adsense Part 3 of 15 deals with google adsense ad formats. The question going through every one's mind is what google adsense format can I use in order to get the best earnings out of my website? The answer of course is all but impossible as each website is different. So how do you find the best ad format for your website, well there are a couple of steps you have to through in order to make sure you do get the best earnings from google adsense. As always this is from your faithful google adsense guru at All About Google Adsense.

Couple of Suggestions

Google adsense formats are ever changing as a matter of fact a new one just came out called the 200x200 ad unit. Generally on the world wide web there are a couple of "secret", as one might call them, ad formats that seem to work wonders no matter what website they are put on. But keep in mind that these are only suggestions according to popularity, and the Internet tends to have a single style of web page format call it a "classic". That is the navigation on the left and the content on the right. So if your website is new or somewhat different these might be completely useless. Now the popular google adsense ad formats are the 336x280 large rectangle, the 300x250 inline rectangle, and the 160x600 wide skyscraper for blogs. Keep in mind this is only the starting step if you want to keep exploring and see if you can earn more you should keep on reading.

Your Very Own Ad Format

Google adsense was made for the Internet not just one kind of websites. This very fact should give you hope as every website has the potential to earn as money as any other website. And one of the very deciding factor is how the google adsense ad units look like to your visitors. One way to find what ad format works best for your website is comparing how each does using the google adsense custom reports. Using the google adsense custom reports you can try different formats and see which ones work best. Keeping in mind the time factor and also what I call the occurrence factor. Meaning if you have a blog keeping in mind that when you post a new post you get way more visitors meaning that your ad unit will get more views. So you should make sure the environment is as stable as possible for each google adsense ad format you try out.

Channel Your Ad Units

Google adsense gives you yet another way to test your ad formats to find out that gold making special one. The google adsense channels can be used to track each ad unit you have on your website. Cutting down on the time you have to take in order to test each web page. The channels can be used to run the google adsense ad units tests on each web page you have simultaneously. But remember to make each as descriptive as possible as per my article but add one more description; time.

Testing Two At A Time: Google Adsense A/B Testing

Google adsense A/B testing is a relatively new method rolled out by google adsense to try to ease the time it takes to figure out things such as which ad units earn the most for the user therefore earn more for google adsense itself. Google adsense A/B Testing Allows you to choose two ad formats or units and show them at the randomly at the same time on your website. This more than doubles your chance at finding the gold in google adsense.

Keep At It

Google adsense ad formats take a long time to perfect for some but others may get lucky. But for those of us who have to do it over and over again most likely we'll end up spending hours perfecting the ad formats on each and every page. Don't let this scare you this is just a necessity in order to find the ways to increase your google adsense earnings. As a matter of fact I almost always have to try out each google adsense ad format before I combine my results and see which one performed better. Remember to perform your test annually or even monthly if possible in order to stay relevant to your users, nothing is set in stone.

Thank You

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold: Part 2 of 15

All About Google Adsense In this second part of my "How To Dig Google Adsense Gold" guide, we'll discuss custom reports and how they can used to your advantage. I use this method on all my websites including my blog All About Google Adsense. Custom reports for google adsense is a pretty common known feature but do we really know what it is? After all it gives you the opportunity to track everything from ad units to impressions and even data over time accumulated and right to your mailbox. Used wisely with google adsense custom reports can increase your cash by telling you exactly what is going on and when it's going on. Not to mention eliminating the hustle of checking your google account in order to track your earnings let's say per week.

Getting Started

Log into your google adsense account. And go to the "advanced reports" under the "reports" tab. There choose the settings you want your new report to be and press "Display Report". There on the right middle side there should be a box and enter your new custom report name and press save. Now keep in mind that whatever settings you had on to show the report are the ones that it's going to use. From there you can go to the "report manager" tab, under "reports" yet again, and there you can change the frequency say weekly, monthly whatever you feel like. Here also you can choose the email it shall be sent to, and the google adsense folks did us one even better you can choose which format the report will be in CVS or CVS-EXCEL. That's it you are all done but what do you do with this new found knowledge? Well read on...

Let's Play Diary Keeper

Custom reporting isn't just a sport or just a way to get your weekly earnings it's much better than that. I am going to show you a method I use to keep tract of things going on in my many all about google adsense campaigns. First create a folder on your computer. Name it "Google Adsense Log" or something close. Next inside the folder name a new folder with a weekly name say "Sept-14-to-21" this way you know what time frame it is. Next go inside the folder and in there save a text file, but not just any normal text file I want you to put in all the details of your google adsense ad units. From color to placement everything covered in my channels article. Now that you know what time frame and what the ads you are you know everything about what you did with your google adsense units. Save that file to that corresponding folder. And at the end of the week save the CVS file you get to that folder. This way you not only have what you did but the fruits of your labor as well. You can use this for a month each time creating anew folder for a new week to see with things you tried worked best. Now this assumes you don't change your google adsense ad units during the weeks, and just wait for a new week to try something new. At the end of the month you can decide which methods worked to bring you more revenue. This is just one of the many ways you can use google adsense custom reporting to your advantage.

Freeze!

Many of us have experienced events when our google adsense revenue either jumps up really high or goes to zip. We stand mouth wide wondering what we did wrong or right. Well with custom reporting you can see just that. If you use them right and keep up with teach week you can see exactly what you did or what one of your visitors did to bring about such a change.

Good Investments

Using google adsense custom reports will give you all the previously stated advantages but there is more. How many of you have thought about selling your websites? Say it's getting to hard to keep up with, or you don't have enough time anymore. Well think about your custom reports and being used as proof of the kind of google adsense earnings a potential client will. After all they stay in your google adsense account so you have proof that those really are the correct stats of your ad units. Adding just one more thing to entice your buyers.

Thank You

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold: Part 1 of 15

Hear ye, hear ye after careful thinking and hours of sleepless nights, I've finally finished what may prove to be the biggest google adsense tutorial on the Internet itself. I am calling it How To Dig Google Adsense Gold, well can you dig it? It's so big I had to break it into 15 parts. But anything for my All About Google Adsense readers. Before we begin let me point out that Google Adsense isn't a game or a get rich quick scheme it's a legitimate business, so approach it as such. If you truly are serious about making money then buckle down and truly focus because if used right this could be your way to riches. Well then let's get this show on the road.

Experimenting With Channels

all about google adsense Channels are a the doorway to the google adsense cave that's filled with gold. Channel is a perfect name as they provide a way to know which way the money is. They can be used to record impressions, CTR, CPM, and earnings statistics for a certain box or even a page. It's up to you to use that information to make it earn you even more money. Also keep in mind that nothing is set in stone so if you think a color combination can do better in a different place other than the one your research provided then by all means try it out. Staying fluid is a necessity in life as well as google adsense.

Channels can be used in several ways from to finding out which places on your website are the money earners, which colors are the eye turners that seem to work with your particular website, and the third of course with format is best for your website. Those are the three things that once can use channels for, let's explore each:

Placement

Where you place an ad plays a major role in your earnings. Through experimenting with different places can one truly find which ones on your website visitors like to look at, therefore click your ad. This is where channels come in, you can keep track of the different of the positions by creating different channels for each. The all time favorite being above the fold (all the way on top of everything else) you can create a channel called "topbannerwebsite" the website part could be the site you are placing it on. You want to make the name of the channel as specific as you want, don't be afraid every character can be included in the name. Set a timetable of the certain channels and see which ones perform better than others. This should allow you to know where your users mostly look and pay attention to. It takes about a week to be sure a spot will continue to bring in the same results or even month if you have the time. Now that you know the place let's see which colors can make the place look even better.

Color Palettes

Let's play dress up with our google adsense ads and make them look spectacular. Now that you know the place let's use those ingenious channels to find out what really makes the user's eyes pop open trying to sneak a peek. Different colors can be changed via the color palette but don't forget to have a different channel for every different color combination. The name should be in a specific to the color let's say "topbanner-red-and-blue". If you want though you can further into it including the url's colors and all that just make sure you can read it and know which colors you meant. With the place and colors known you are that much closer to truly maximizing your income.

Ad Formats

Ad Formats refers to the size and the contents of a specific ad unit. This is crucial to any google adsense campaign as how big or what it looks like affect a user's stand point. Thankfully google adsense has a range of formats available that can keep you testing for eternity. From images to text to referrals the list keeps growing everyday it seems. But what you need to focus is on is the ones that are already proven to get you the mos earnings even google adsense admits that the 336x280 large rectangle,300x250 inline rectangle, and the 160x600 wide skyscraper. I suggest you start your research with those and broaden your ranges if the results are not satisfactory. The channel should be a specific one by now in the terms of "top-banner-urlblue-textblack-336x280" that should be a basic of what your next names should be. Combining all these three is the perfect method to maximize your google adsense earnings.

I know this seems like a lot of work but like I said money truly isn't a game unless you are in Las Vegas. To tell you the truth I myself take a month just to set the adsense blocks on any of my new sites. Everything has to be tried and measured to make sure it's the best as it gets. Remember what I said about these not being written in stone I suggest you get back at least a year and try it all over again so as to suit your audience even more. People do change and after any major change in your site either in traffic or look you should retrace your steps, but at least you have something to start with.

Thank You

What will MTV and Viacom Bring To Adsense?

Google Adsense has signed a deal with Viacom and MTV to display a new kind of ads. These ads will be in the form of clips that are then followed by ads from Viacom. Only 200 google adsense publishers are included in this so far. And they will pay by CPM meaning each time a user presses play the webmaster gets pays. The earnings will be sent to the user on their referral page in their Google Adsense account manager. This will go on for four weeks and probably will be back for a longer period of time and a more wider range of publishers. They will be in two sizes the 336x280 and 300x250 ad units.

Many people are saying it is because many people are using video services more and more like youtube and google videos. Google adsense publishers like us have been waiting for google to get in touch with the entertainment industry as this is going to increase our chances to earn revenues. Among the shows to be shown in these clips will be “SpongeBob SquarePants” and MTV’s “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County". And as Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, The N, and Nickelodeon channel are in owned by the Viacom company shows on these channels are expected to be included.

And of course your good buddy here at All About Google Adsense has got you an inside look of the direct info that Google Adsense sent to participating publishers:

What is this?
Google is running an experiment with syndicated video supported by ads, to help publishers and video content owners better monetize their properties. Premium video owners provide Google with their content, Google matches the content with ads, and the site owner presents the combined product to their users.

The content to be displayed through these units is premium. We're running this pilot to open the door to initiate branding concepts within the Google AdSense advertising model, and you've been handpicked to be one of the few exclusive partners to help launch this program. Advertisers ready to move forward are of the highest caliber, and the value-add of supplying this content is tremendous. If successful, these efforts will become more robust, and the end results will greatly enhance the user experience on your site.

What is the video content?

For the initial test, we will be using channels of video content provided by MTV Networks, such as from their Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, The N, and Nickelodeon channels. The video content is mostly short-form clips of up to a few minutes in length.

What are the ads?

For the purposes of this test, the video advertisements are provided by MTV Networks; the interstitial ads will be varying lengths (most 30 seconds or less) and shown between segments of the video content. For future syndicated video, Google will be leveraging its network of advertisers to match content to advertisement for syndicated video content.

How much money will I make?

Revenue is generated on a CPM basis, by the number of views on each ad inside the content. For instance, if someone watches the first three minutes of the content, and sees two interstitial ads, you will be paid for those two views. There is no payment unless a user has seen an ad within the content.

For syndicated video, the revenues will be split three ways, between the content owner, Google, and the site owner. For the purposes of this test, Google is not disclosing the three-way revenue split. Please also understand that CPM values and expected payouts at the end of this pilot cannot be disclosed at this time.

How do I add this to my page?
We will send you all necessary code amendments and modifications, which can simply be dropped-in to the source code of your page.

What is the unit size?
The embedded video player is the standard IAB 336x280 & IAB 300x250 size.

Do I have to put this in a certain place on my page?
You can place this unit above the fold (ATF) anywhere on your site, but keep in mind that you should try and optimize its position for playbacks.

How many impressions will I get?
As this is the first experiment of this type, we are not making projections of impressions or views. This video content, however, is only available to certain sites, so there is an element of exclusivity that your users may find attractive, and may help you get new visitors.

What if I'd like to display this Flash player on the sub domain (subdomain.root.com) of a pilot approved website?
Please respond to this email and let us know if this applies to your site.

Are we guaranteed to make at least as much as our ads would?
For the purposes of this test, we are not making revenue guarantees or predictions. This is a new concept in Google advertising history and we have worked hard with our advertisers to secure inventory for this premium channel. Our expectation is that monetization will only improve as this channel, concept, and project becomes more built out, but until then, we're in full beta with this pilot. As such, your patience and collaboration is of extreme value to us.

Will ads be served through AdSense or will I have to implement another type of code?
Ads will be served through special video player code provided for the purposes of this test, though publishers will be paid through their AdSense account.

Will Google serve the highest paying ad/content or is this a fixed unit?
This is a fixed unit, serving only the MTV preferred channel content selected for your site. There is no auction of content for the purposes of this test.

Can viewers skip ad and content display? Do publishers still get paid if viewers skip ad display? Yes, viewers can skip both content and ad display. However, users must begin to watch interstitial ads to qualify an ad event/impression.

How often does the video content refresh/change?
Content will likely change every three to seven days.

Will this player/content slow down my site?
No. As with Click-to-Play Video Ads, the video in this ad unit will not start buffering unless the user clicks on the play button. Publishers should not see any effect on site performance.

Do I have to reinsert the code when it changes?
No. By adding the video unit to your page, the content will automatically update without your changing the code on your site.

Can I have more than one unit on my page?
No, you can only have one of these video units per page.

Will the video unit be click-to-play, or initiated upon page view?
The video unit will be click-to-play, meaning initiated by the user, NOT upon page view.

Will there be alternate ad capability with these video units?
No. Since these video units are not standard ad units, you will only have the ability to serve this content through this pilot's unit.

Is there a separate legal agreement or will Google just serve through AdSense with the standard AdSense T&Cs?
AdSense Online Standard Terms and Conditions apply to this pilot.

How long is the pilot?
The pilot will span four weeks; we will provide pilot exit information prior to its completion.

Thank You
