Google Adsense's Newbie Central Explored

The Google Adsense team today launches a new section of their help page aptly called "Newbie Central". Now before anyone get all giddy and joins in on the Google Adsense bandwagon keep in mind of what this new section really is.

First of course is a complete guide on how to register for Google Adsense and get started. Basically telling you things like how to put the code on your website. Oh wait that's not all. They also tell you to subscribe to the Adsense blog and their support forum. Now we are getting nice and dirty!

Earnings and Expectations

This page basically lists all the factors that affect your earnings in the Google Adsense program. Obvious things like how much traffic you get and your Clickthrough Rate. For new users this page may actually be useful in getting to know how each section of your reports relates to your overall earnings.

The Rest

Not even worth my time is the rest of the new pages. Everything from channels, formats,... Newbie Central couldn't have hit it more squarely.

The Funny

The funny part is the fact that this simple page could be used to replace the whole Google Adsense help section. No really this is just about all you ever get information wise from the folks at Google. So enjoy the Newbie Central and bask in the fact that this is all you need to learn about Google Adsense. Well from Google anyways.

To Google Adsense Austalian and New Zealand Users

Watch out! Log into your Google Adsense account and check out your payment history page. Then click details and see what conversion rate was used on your November payments. If the conversion was done at 0.867 : 1 rather than 1.15 : 1 then Google may have messed up your payment. Count it and you'll see that the conversion loss amounts to about $15 out of $100.

Don't panic send an email to the folks over at Google Adsense if you haven't already gotten one from them. They claim that those users who were affected by this error will be credited with the amount lost by January 7th.

Basically what happened was Google converted from Local currency to US instead of the other way around. Either way though there's nothing to worry about I just wanted everyone to know in case this affects you. Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

Notice "Top Channels" Missing From Your Google Adense Report?

That's because the feature is currently malfunctioning. And yes being in the holidays it will be a while before it's fixed. A topic on Google groups is still asking for support but AdsensePro Ashley posted this a while ago:

Hi all, Thanks again for reporting this issue. Please be assured that it will be resolved in the coming weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience it causes you, and appreciate your patience in the meantime. Ashley

But there is some good news. If you go to the advanced reports tab and chose all tabs you can see how each of your channels performed. So even though it requires an extra step those out there with a lot of websites can still keep track of how each is doing.

As to the origins of this problem Jensense seems to think it may have something to do with the new Google Adsense feature of saving large reports. However there is no way to this at this time. Let's just hope they fix this soon I am already annoyed with taking those extra steps and my PDA doesn't even load the Java on the Advanced reports that well.

New Beta Interactive Google Adsense Unit

Not even a day after a new ad format by Google Adsense is revealed yet another one is spotted. This ad format is dedicated to Google Checkout and features products with pictures and descriptions. It looks interesting at best here's a picture of it:

The Google Adsense folks are just bent on making up new formats these days. I guess being the holidays they want to maximize on the holiday shopping rush.

Google Adsense: The New Political Battle Field

For those of you who don't know the race for the next preside of the United States of America has already startled. Many candidates are already vying to win their party nominations. Among others Mitt Romney, a Mormon, is running for president. Now many people still have a problem with the Mormon belief and how it's going to affect his decisions if he is to become president.

He has sustained many attacks especially on the Mormon belief that before Jesus comes the Mormon religion will save the American Constitution from apparent disarray. This is what a new ad on Google Adsense is pointing a finger to. Not directly of course first it links to an anti-mormon website that points to a quote from a book they have that states that fact. Here's a picture of it:

Apparently the speech on his religion didn't matters none. Like he had hoped. But what is more troubling is how this is going to affect Google Adsense.

If this campaign against or for political candidates continues it may do more harm than good to many users who don't want anything to do with the political process. Especially sites based out of the US. Let's hope these new ads will use Google Adword's new feature to target ads geographically.Basically it's like being an advertising spot for someone or some rich candidate's fight with another one. Especially for political websites that tend to have their own views. Suddenly they have ads for democratic candidates while they are republicans.

We'll see where this goes if the campaigns keep moving online like they are this may present a problem. Especially compared to how online advertising is much cheaper than what political candidates usually advertise on.

Google Adsense's New Gift

As usual Google has sent out a unique gift to all high performing publishers. This year's gift apparently is a Card about the same size a credit card, but here's the catch it's a two gigabyte USB flash drive.

Chris Pirillo is apparently the first one to cop one.

Google Logos Showing up in Google Adsense Ads

Google loves advertising itself especially when it comes to it's own products. So it's no surprise that new Google Adsense ads were spotted with the Google Logo either in the right hand side or in the left hand side. These were found at SE Journal:

Why IS This So Important?

This is important because this could becomes the new Google Adsense Ads. And if so may mess up any blending you may have done with your ads. So it's important to watch out for these new variations in case something does get changed.

Where Have I Been?

My life the couple past months has been a shallow mud of mess. Filled with school project after another. You see I decided to join the AP classes at my school and for the first semester it was all good. Until the second semester that's when the World grew dark. Believe you me when I say that I've been covered in school work for the past couple of weeks. I maintain a couple of blogs and could barely keep up with all of them.

But this is no excuse for not staying up to date with the Adsense World and making sure you folks receive your news. So I'd like to apologize for my absence and promise from now on three to four posts per week. There is no excuse for neglecting my responsibilities. So yes this means I am back and am preparing a whole load of posts to go with the updates and happenings I've missed.

I appreciate your concern to those who emailed me and those who commented asking for me. And thank you for your dedication and royalty to All About Google Adsense.

Google Adsense Now Features Google Checkout

google adsense checkout

In a new development Google is featuring little Google Checkout icons on Google Adsense ads in what appears to be a test.

This is only happening to a limited number of websites and I have never personally seen them. But the ads seem to appear in from of products that are featured on Google Checkout.

The Google adsense blog is not telling us anything yet so this isn't an official feature so expect it not to be here to stay.

Google Adsense Updates Policies

Google adsense just announced at the Google Adsense blog that they changed their policies. The new version includes a lot of things different from the last for example images next to ads has been expressly banned. Here's a review of the changes and differences from the last policy.

What are the changes? Well here's a little outline:

Competitive Ads and Services Policy

Now it even more restricted:

Competitive Ads and Services In order to prevent user confusion, we do not permit Google ads or search boxes to be published on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colors as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.

Meaning ad programs like YPN cannot be used on the same website as Google adsense. That's right the whole website not just a page or two,and added to that is the fact that you can't rotate the ads 50/50 like Google Adsense publishers have been doing for a while now. But there is a way to display these we not at the same time but in different pages. As Jensense points out you can use the A/B method if the ads have different backgrounds.

Referrals

The numbers of referrals ads has been changed:

Up to two referral units from each referral product or offering may be displayed on a page, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units.

This gives you much more freedom in the sense that Google might be developing a full on affiliate program out of Google Adsense. With these new relaxed rules for referrals something is definitely in the works.

Domain Parking

Domain parking is still not allowed by Google Adsense as this would go against their policies to have content before ads are served.

Images Next To Google Adsense Ads

May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks. May not place misleading images alongside individual ads

As announced by the Google Adsense blog images next to ads is still not allowed.

Google Adsense Search

Now you are allowed to put a Google Adsense ad unit on the result pages of the Google search box.

Google Adsense for search results pages may show only a single ad link unit in addition to the ads Google serves with the search results.

This comes as a surprise since Google already had ads on the search result page. Adding your own unit really won't help anything at all.

Copyright Content

This new rule is to stop scrappers and many MFAs (Made For Adsense) out there. It states that:

Website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with content protected by copyright law unless they have the necessary legal rights to display that content. Please see our DMCA policy for more information.

That's about it overall these rules were already widely know bu these new changes present opportunities for Google Adsense to move into new fields. Thank You

What to Expect From Keyword-based Ad Filtering

News of Google adsense beta testing their new Keyword-based Ad Filtering tool has excited many adsense users such as myself mainly because of what this could mean for my revenues.

What is it?

This is a feature that will allow a user to select "negative keywords" for a site. Meaning those keywords selected will never be used in the google ads that are on the site.

What is to be expected?

This would greatly help webmasters that have been getting low paying ads on their websites because of some keywords. For example many users with websites like this get these CPM 0.07 ads from google with the keyword google inserted in the tool you'll never see them again.

That's just one example another would be use this tool to your advantage by eliminating all low paying ads not by website like normally, but by keyword. Which will allow for a block of several websites that all target a keyword.

When can we expect it to be out?

My guess would around spring as this is when the first quarter of the year is nearing the end.

Google Adsense Bans Images Next To Ads

The google adsense blog just announced that images next to google adsense ads are not acceptable any longer!

They've received many emails from webmasters asking them if it's okay since it appears to increase CTR numbers by a long shot and decided to release a post about it. I had found this out earlier this month and taken down the ads on some of my sites because the google adsense team had contacted me about that.

Rumors were circulating the web that images with a visible border to the google adsense ads are acceptable but according to google these aren't either. They even released copies of what ads they consider breaking the rules:

google adsense blog

google adsense blog

This is a big downer to anyone in the Google adsense program that was getting massive earnings because of this seemingly little change.

Folks this was coming though advertisers probably complained about this since it wans in a sense "tricking" the user into noticing the users.

What do you think is this going to put a damper in your earnings?

New Google Adsense Payment History Page

Google adsense just released a new look and even more features for google adsense. I've always complained about how complicated the payment method for google adsense is but with this new page more details appears to be the key:

First we have a yellow section that takes you to the payment center of the google adsense help section. There you can find a whole list of the process as well as the time line of the google adsense payment process.

Next the earned and payment money has been divided into two columns allowing for a user to concentrate on each better. Another section provides your monthly account balance. Whe you click details more information about what happened on that month will be given. For example your payments were sent an don.

Last we have the payment schedule which includes an exclusive look at the timeline for th google adsense payments to be delivered. If you didn't know:

Complete with color coordinations for each change in the process.

My Review:

I am thinking this is a positive step from the folks over at google adsense, next they should try simplifying this whole formula so that new users can get used. I know it took me a long time to get used to these payment method of google adsense. What do you think will this make it easier or they need to step it down a notch at least one of those steps?

Google Image Logo On Google Adsense

It seems google adsense is trying out new ad formats no tin the sense you are thinking of though. More in the sense of removing the ads by google label with something a little easier. Relbenezon reported that google was using the image logo on it's ads instead of the normal ads by google. Check out the image below:

I don't know if this is supposed to increase CTR by catching a user's eye. But it doesn't look like it to me. If anything it screws up anything you might have going in the sense of blending you as. Not to mention the extra added bandwidth to load that image along with google's javascript. Let's just hope this isn't here to stay.

Exclussive! Sneak Adsense Keywods For Higher Earnings Ever!

Here is another exclusive tip for all you adsense freaks from all about google adsense. This is a nice little trick where you sneak high paying google adsense keywords into your otherwise nothing earning website for higher profit. This is especially nice for blogs because you can do this in every post and watch you google adsense earnings climb to the top. For high paying keywords I use the google adwords keywords lookup tool. Here is an example:

I have exciting news to tell you guys and no it's not about mesothelioma lawyers, instead it's about how google adsense can earn you millions. Really my friend who is a consolidate loan student has a nice website about finding tax lawyers and he makes so much money that I don't think even a personal injury lawyer makes that much. So anyways that's what I wanted to tell you guys and don't even ask me what is mesothelioma because that's whatmalignant mesothelioma is there for.

Notice that i overdid it just to show my point. But really try sneaking at least one or two every post and you'll see your adsense earnings rise slowly. If you don't believe me check out the ads on top of this post. Thank You

Big Plans For All About Google Adsense

I am excited to finally announce to you guys the big plans I have for all about google adsense for a while now I've been planning on moving this whole blog to my own domain. Thanks to blogger beta messing up my rss feed and a lot of other background stuff I've also decide to move it to wordpress. Which I am more familiar with now.

Don't worry all the content will also be moved along with the blog. The sad news part is the fact that I won't be able to offer my pr 4 links like I usually do due in largely to the fact that I won't have the pagerank 4 on the new address.

I'd like to ask what you guys have to say about it so drop me a comment if you have an opinion as to where you want this blog to go. After all this is all for you and I wanted to get a little feedback before I moved everything.

You may have noticed the posts have been a little slow and that's because I wanted to make sure everything was perfect for the big move.

Your support is appreciated.

Thank You

How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 4 of 15: Google Adsense Color Palettes

all about google adsense How To Dig Google Adsense Gold Part 4 of 15 is all about google adsense color palettes. Google Adsense color palettes are like clothes for your ads. And just like fashion models no one will give them a second glance if you don't dress them up to catch eyes. But keep in mind that we are here not to trick the user into clicking your google adsense ads but drawing attention to them and letting them be the judges. As always keep in mind the one to bring you all these articles and more all about google adsense and precharge projectnet.

Getting Down To Business

Google Adsense has a lot of choices when it comes down to color palettes and this makes sense after all they want your google ads to look like they are going to prom everyday. First things to consider are what kind of colors your page has and where the google adsense ads will be located. Second what kind of technique you are going to use to maximize your earnings, currently there are three major color palettes techniques: blend, compliment, or contrast. Third does your website have a lot of static traffic or is it pretty much random. Fourth the fact of all the things you have on your website competing for the user's attention.

Blending In Your Ads

all about google adsense

Blending your google adsense ads using color palettes is a major favorite among the google adsense community. Few opt out to the other two methods though they can be as effective as blending depending on what kind of website you are working on. Blending includes making your google adsense ad units the same background as your web page and using the same link color on your google adsense ads as your links on your web page. This is easy since most websites have a white background with blue links the Open Air palette built in with google adsense can be used. Making your text link description the same color as you ads is also highly recommended.

Compliment Google Adsense

all about google adsense

I don't mean complimenting your google adsense quite literally of course but in method. Using your color palettes to make your google adsense ads look like they belong to your website. This is way different from blending as blending makes them disappear, complimenting makes them obvious but part of your overall website design. Check out the example in the image above. The background color should be your secondary color on the website the most reoccurring color next to your background. But the text should be the same as your website. Giving your google AdSense ads a "homely" look.

Contrast Or Reject Your Google Adsense Ads

all about google adsense

Contrasting your google adsense color palette to your website is a lesser liked method of using google adsense but may be effective as well. You ever see those advertisements on television that just shocks you, that have nothing to do with the product being advertised yet they catch your attention? Well it shocked your took you from the ordinary to something a little out of this world. Contrasting your google adsense ads is sort of the same thing. The goal is to make your google adsense ads as different as possible from your website. I am talking about opposites here. There are obvious colors that contrast each other like black on white, red on blue, or even gray on green. This one is very easy to do since all you have to do is do a crazy color design.

Multiple Google Adsense Color Palettes at the Same Time

No doubt your google adsense needs are different and if you don't want to use google adsense channels to spend hours or even days trying to figure which color palettes work est with your website or even if you did test and let's say two methods both got you equal earnings. Well you can use this new technique from google adsense that allows to use up to four color palettes on one ad unit. Simply go to your google adsense account and under color palettes choose the multiple palettes option and hold down the control or command key to choose multiple palettes.

Proven Colors

Well I can't leave you out to dry without first giving you a couple of suggestion to get you started. First of all google adsense is not the first to start with different color coordination to get catch people's attention. The advertising industry has been at it for a long time. And after a lot of research the colors that seemed to catch user's attention the most were black on red or yellow. For some weird reason we seem to notice those colors the most. Some say this is because at night time is when we must pay most close attention since the limited visibly and red or yellow come from an indication of something dangerous so we seem to pay more attention to them. If your don't believe me ask yourself why traffic signals are the same colors everywhere and why yellow and red means to stop? Not to mention the lights on your car or the colors companies like Winn-Dixie use.

Unique

In all of this keep in mind that no two websites are alike even with the same content the users are always different. So keep on trying different methods until your get it just right.

Thank You
