Social Bookmarks For Blogger!

This post is for my many blogger friends out there who are trying to better their blogs. It's common knowledge that the blogger software has no easy way to add social bookmark links for each post. So I set out to find an easy way to make these. And success at last. I figure out a way to blogger's own code to make each bookmark link have the exact post you want. Using the blogger template tags of course to make it a little easier. Let's start with where you put the code. It's to be placed right after the $BlogItemBody$ tag. I've included most social bookmarking websites out there to make it easier on you, so you can just choose which to place on your website. Sorry I had to make it a picture but blogger wouldn't let me include the code without showing the HTML equivalent. Now on to the piece de resistance: Bookmarks For Blogger You can also change the the word before the link closing tag to an image you want. One thing that has worked for me is using the said website's .ico img as the image. Say spurl you can put http://www.spurl.net/favicon.ico inside img tags to replace the letters "spurl". Making this a complete it a fully functioning social bookmark link. If you place them after the blogitembody tag in your blog template these will appear after every post with the specified post's url in them of course. All I ask in return, if you want, when use this method is to include a link to the main page of this website: Hope this helps you out as much as it did me. P.S.If you want a live sample look at the end of this post and every other post and try those buttons out. Thank You EDIT: I figured out how to put HTML into blogger! Just ignore the br tags as I couldn't get those out. Enjoy! Thank You

SEO Terms Defined

Everyone these days is trying to jump into the SEO business. But the many already established abbreviations in the SEO business confuse many. Ans I recently came across a list of the generally used SEO terms and their definitions from a forum called webmaster-talk.com. This list I've myself thought of making but this list goes through most terms out there. And if there are any terms missing that anyone feels should be included just post them and their definitions in the comments box and I'll include them: Anchor Text Anchor text refers to the visible text for a hyperlink. Back Link Any link on another page that points to the subject page. Also called inbound links or IBLs. Bot Abbreviation for robot (also called a spider). It refers to software programs that scan the web. Bots vary in purpose from indexing web pages for search engines to harvesting e-mail addresses for spammers. Cloaking Cloaking describes the technique of serving a different page to a search engine spider than what a human visitor sees. This technique is abused by spammers for keyword stuffing. Cloaking is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. Conversion Conversion refers to site traffic that follows through on the goal of the site (such as buying a product on-line, filling out a contact form, registering for a newsletter, etc.). Webmasters measure conversion to judge the effectiveness (and ROI) of PPC and other advertising campaigns. Effective conversion tracking requires the use of some scripting/cookies to track visitors actions within a website. Log file analysis is not sufficient for this purpose. CPC Abbreviation for Cost Per Click. It is the base unit of cost for a PPC campaign. CTA Abbreviation for Content Targeted Ad(vertising). It refers to the placement of relevant PPC ads on content pages for non-search engine websites. CTR Abbreviation for Click Through Rate. It is a ratio of clicks per impressions in a PPC campaign. Doorway Page Also called a gateway page. A doorway page exists solely for the purpose of driving traffic to another page. They are usually designed and optimized to target one specific keyphrase. Doorway pages rarely are written for human visitors. They are written for search engines to achieve high rankings and hopefully drive traffic to the main site. Using doorway pages is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. FFA Abbreviation for Free For All. FFA sites post large lists of unrelated links to anyone and everyone. FFA sites and the links they provide are basically useless. Humans do not use them and search engines minimize their importance in ranking formulas. Gateway Page Also called a doorway page. A gateway page exists solely for the purpose of driving traffic to another page. They are usually designed and optimized to target one specific keyphrase. Gateway pages rarely are written for human visitors. They are written for search engines to achieve high rankings and hopefully drive traffic to the main site. Using gateway pages is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. IBL Abbreviation for In Bound Link. Any link on another page that points to the subject page. Also called a back link. Keyword/KeyphraseKeywords are words which are used in search engine queries. Keyphrases are multi-word phrases used in search engine queries. SEO is the process of optimizing web pages for keywords and keyphrases so that they rank highly in the results returned for search queries. Keyword Stuffing Keyword stuffing refers to the practice of adding superfluous keywords to a web page. The words are added for the 'benefit' of search engines and not human visitors. The words may or may not be visible to human visitors. While not necessarily a violation of search engine Terms of Service, at least when the words are visible to humans, it detracts from the impact of a page (it looks like spam). It is also possible that search engines may discount the importance of large blocks of text that do not conform to grammatical structures (ie. lists of disconnected keywords). There is no valid reason for engaging in this practice. Link Farm A link farm is a group of separate, highly interlinked websites for the purposes of inflating link popularity (or PR). Engaging in a link farm is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. Mirror In SEO parlance, a mirror is a near identical duplicate website (or page). Mirrors are commonly used in an effort to target different keywords/keyphrases. Using mirrors is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. PFI Abbreviation for Pay For Inclusion. Many search engines offer a PFI program to assure frequent spidering / indexing of a site (or page). PFI does not guarantee that a site will be ranked highly (or at all) for a given search term. It just offers webmasters the opportunity to quickly incorporate changes to a site into a search engine's index. This can be useful for experimenting with tweaking a site and judging the resultant effects on the rankings. Portal Designation for websites that are either authoritative hubs for a given subject or popular content driven sites (like Yahoo) that people use as their homepage. Most portals offer significant content and offer advertising opportunities for relevant sites. PPC Abbreviation for Pay Per Click. An advertising model where advertisers pay only for the traffic generated by their ads. PR Abbreviation for PageRank - Google's trademark for their proprietary measure of link popularity for web pages. Google offers a PR viewer on their Toolbar. Robots.txt Robots.txt is a file which well behaved spiders read to determine which parts of a website they may visit. SEM Abbreviation for Search Engine Marketing. SEM encompasses SEO and search engine paid advertising options (banners, PPC, etc.) SEO Abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. SEO covers the process of making web pages spider friendly (so search engines can read them) making web pages relevant to desired keyphrases SERP Abbreviation for Search Engine Results Page/Positioning. This refers to the organic (excluding paid listings) search results for a given query. Spam In the SEO vernacular, this refers to manipulation techniques that violate search engines Terms of Service and are designed to achieve higher rankings for a web page. Obviously, spam could be grounds for banning. SpamdexingSpamdexing was describes the efforts to spam a search engine's index. Spamdexing is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning. Spider Also called a bot (or robot). Spiders are software programs that scan the web. They vary in purpose from indexing web pages for search engines to harvesting e-mail addresses for spammers. Spider Trap A spider trap refers to either a continuous loop where spiders are requesting pages and the server is requesting data to render the page or an intentional scheme designed to identify (and "ban") spiders that do not respect robots.txt. Stop Word Stop words are words that are ignored by search engines when indexing web pages and processing search queries. Common words such as "the". Thank You

Sitemap For Your Blog

Google Sitemap is a nice way to let Google know you'ev updated your website and it needs to send it's crawler to check the new content. But everyone knows that this has been hard for us bloggers to do for the single fact that we can't upload the sitemaps on the Blogger server. Well despair no longer. This trick will get your blog a Gooogle Sitemap suing your rss or atom feed. What you need for this is obviously an rss or atom and not to forget a google account, don't panic I'll show you a way get both. For starters feeds are made by many services as making them yourself is a pain. One of my favorite is Feedburner. And just follow the instructions on the site. Now then on to the Google account these are easy to obtain just go to gmail.com and register an email address, also any google service that requires them say google Sitempas offers you a way to ge tan account free so no to worry. And finally here is how to get that sitemap:

1. Head on to the Google Sitemaps Website and register an account with Google if you don't already have one.
2. On the "add site" url box enter the normal url of your blog.
3. Now your blog should be listed on the bottom as manageyourblogurlhere. Then choose the "Add sitemap" next to your blog url.
4. In the choice box choose Add General Web Sitemap
5. You should see the following:
1-I have created a Sitemap in a supported format.
2-I have uploaded my Sitemap to the highest-level directory to which I have access.
6. Enter your site's feed url in the Feed Url text box. Press enter.
7. Go back to the main site and you should see a link next to your blog's url saying verify. Click on it and you hav etwo options uploading an HTML file or adding a meta tag to your blog. This step is to simply verify you own said blog. As we can't upload the file which is the problem in the first case choose the meta tag choice. Then they will give you a meta tag to add to your blog.
8. Now we have to figure out a way to let Google know we've updated the sitemap ie. feed. This simple sitemap ping url should work. using this simple Google Sitemap Pingtool should work.

There you are all done from know on Google will crawl each and every post you have on your blog. Thank You

Call It A Google Blog!

Google Adsense as we know has been trying to get it's hands on the rising popularity of weblogs or blogs for short. Recently everyone has been getting themselves a blog it's drawing a lot people from Internet entrepreneurs to advertising agencies. Google of course isn't left out as it bought bloggers and decided to quickly implement a Google Adsense choice giving bloggers and easier way to put Adsense into their weblogs. Without further a due let's discuss all the necessities of a successful blog. First and foremost dynamic content, meaning fresh updates as much as you can. This is what made the blogs get so much attention in the first place. Second make sure you are pinging that's right sounds funny doesn't it? Well it's a blogging necessity basically it's way to let people know when you've updated your blog. There a websites out there that focus on advertising your blog for free when it is updated. Check out one of my favorite ones that pings a lot of those sites for free all at once! Pingoat And don't forget getting an rss or atom feed for your weblog. Which is a way to let your users know be able to get your updated posts and other recently updated posts. If you don't have one or don't know how to set one up head on over to the most popular feed handler that most bloggers use: Feedburner . Those are the basics of blogging now let's go straight to the desert. How to make money with your blog you ask? With the rise of popularity of blogs many advertising agencies are focusing on blogs as well as feeds. Google Adsense of course wasn't any different. First as always blend your ads to your blog to make it seem like your useful links. And next call attention to your ads by giving it a title in bold. Let's say "sponsors" be sure however to check out your advertiser's rules to make sure you don't run in any problems. I know for a fact that Google Adsense allows this as long as it doesn't mislead the user. If you are not sure about a title just contact their team and they'll let you know. One method most bloggers don't employ is placing a Sky-scrapper ad as it's called in their navigational menu. Not realizing that most users use it to find information on their blogs, so it's most likely to get most views. So be sure to put something vertical in your navigation menu. For those with blogger check Blogger Adsense In Sidebar. Another overlooked fact is that most blogs have a search feature in their sidebar which can be substituted with a Google Search increasing your chances of money as well as giving your users relevant searches of your website, so it's a win-win situation all the way. If you want to go out and get the cake of course you can include a referral links at the end of your posts. As this is where most user's eyes rest when finished reading a post and most referral programs have no limit to how much links per page giving you the option of putting it in every post. Another helpful links is a new Google heat-map for blogs for those familiar with the website heat-map by Google this should be very useful. This new heat-map shows the best places that have worked to get the most money out of others blogs. Check it out Google Blog Heatmap. Well that's about it I present you with the plate as well as the just deserts now it's up to you to dig in. Thank You

New Adsense Feature: Site Diagnostics

Google Adsense has decide to release a new feature for Google Adsense Publishers called Site Diagnostics. The name implies the meaning of course. It is simply a way that the gracious Google Adsense team has come up to help any struggling webmasters or publishers who can't seem to reap the profits that the Google Adsense hype promised. It's easy to find just as soon as you login look at the reports tag and the options under it, there at the far right there should be a Site Diagnostics. Then immediately you are greeted with a page about site crawler diagnostics it's basically how the Google Adsense spiderbot crawls your website and what problems it may have encountered. However it crawls only weekly so at this point I have not received info about my site, so I can share with you guys the insides and outs. In extreme cases it appears sometimes it may not be abe to crawl said website in such a situation it displays the URL in the info box. There is only two case that the spiderbot may mark your website nor crawlable: first if your robots.txt file forbids it from visiting the site, second if your website was down when it visited your website. But in extreme cases it may be your host blocking the Google Adsense Spiderbot in which case you should proceed to contact them and have this taken xcare of. This should help to answer questions with users who couldn't get any relevant ads to their website. In any case this is an exciting new development as most of us had to write to the team and wait for the email to get any suggestions or answers to our problems. This new feature will serve to make Google Adsense that much easier to use. Thank You

Press Release Format

Press Releases have always been a nice way to not only increase traffic but gain reputation in today's media. This method allows many media websites to publicize your website for you, making for an easy SEO trick. But the only problem has always been the simple fact that not all of are companies with plenty of staff and people in charge of the press, so us web entrepreneurs are forced to write our own press releases. With no know guidelines it has been hard for us to do it, until now that is. After trying to find a way to solve this age-old problem I stumbled on to a nice guide on how to make what I consider a pretty decent press release, so I decided to share it:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Contact Person Company Name Voice Phone Number FAX Number Email Address Website URL XYZ, Inc. Announces Widget to Maximize Customer Response Rate This headline is one of the most important components of the press release as this needs to "grab the attention" of the editor. It should be in bold type and a font that is larger than the body text. Preferred type fonts are Arial, Times New Roman, or Verdana. Keep the headline to 80-125 characters maximum. Capitalize every word with the exception of "a", "the" "an" or any word that is three characters or less. , , - Your first paragraph of the release should be written in a clear and concise manner. The opening sentence contains the most important information; keep it to 25 words or less. Never take for granted that the reader has read your headline. It needs contain information that will "entice" the reader. Remember, your story must be newsworthy and factual; don't make it a sales pitch or it will end up in the trash. Answer the questions "who", "what", "when", "where", "why" and "how". Your text should include pertinent information about your product, service or event. If writing about a product, make sure to include details on when the product is available, where it can be purchased and the cost. If you're writing about an event, include the date, location of the event and any other pertinent information. You should include a quote from someone that is a credible source of information; include their title or position with the company, and why they are considered a credible source. Always include information on any awards they have won, articles they've published or interviews they have given. Keep your sentences and paragraphs short; a paragraph should be no more than 3-4 sentences. Your release should be between 500 to 800 words, written in a word processing program, and spell checked for errors. Don't forget to proofread for grammatical errors. The mood of the release should be factual, not hyped; don't use a sales pitch as it will ruin your credibility with the reader. The last paragraph before the company information should read: For additional information on (put in the subject of this release), contact "name" or visit www.yoururl.com. If you offer a sample, copy or demo, put the information in here. You can also include details on product availability, trademark acknowledgment, etc. in this area of the release. ABOUT - Include a brief description of your company along with the products and services it provides. - END - At the end of the release, you need to indicate that the release is ended. This lets the journalists know they have received the entire release. Type "End" on the first line after your text is completed. If your release goes over one page, type "MORE" at the bottom of the first page.
Taken from www.marketingsource.com This guide shows you all the necessary components of a press release as well as some tips. Be wary however that this is best used for a new product as in program, script,... Thank You

A Post a Day Keeps You Money Happy!

Google Adsense has been trying to get into the blogging business for a while now it's a known fact. Blogger, the blog service Google bought a while ago, has a feature where you can integrate your Google Adsense automatically into your blog. Why the sudden interest you might ask in blogging? Well it's been a know fact now that blogging has become the internet's leading news source. Everyone has a couple of blogs that they check at least once a day. this sensation of course took the real World by storm also. As bloggers are now quoted by news networks like CNN,BBC,NY Times.. and so on. It makes sense as blogging has always been a way for people to express themselves on the Internet. Many people keep personal blogs about their daily lives. Everyone has heard about the famous cases where workers are getting fired for saying opinions against the companies they work for, the workers of course have fired back which has become a real media event. With all of this media attention advertising companies rushed to get in on this newly founded traffic. Google Adsense immediately opened it's eyes and a while later Google acquired the Blogger service. Famous at the time for it's automatic features and easy to access controls. Though there are more choices out there for a starting blogger, Blogger seems to be the easiest at least to me. The reason behind this has always been the way people frequently updated their blogs making for new fresher content almost everyday. And as well know Google Adsense and Google in common love new content not to mention your visitors. Which explains a post a day keeps you money happy! Thank You
